FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE OUTSOURCING SERVICES

Q.WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER OUTSOURCING ANY OF MY RECEIVABLES?

Every business office, no matter how productive and effective it may be, will from time to time experience backlogs in A/R management. These backlogs are often caused by staffing issues, carrier problems, changes in business practice and/or computer systems conversions. MRSI provides the safety net you need. We can support your A/R management needs whenever and wherever you choose. Having a long term outsourcing partner gives you the peace of mind to know someone is there when you need them and gets you back on track as soon as possible.

Q.WHAT PATIENT ACCOUNTING SYSTEMS DO YOU WORK WITH?

MRSI staff have experience working with many patient accounting and electronic billing systems used in hospitals, physician and dentist offices, and home health. Our resume includes Meditech, IDX, McKesson, Epic, Fast Track, Med Series, Allegra, SMS Unity and Signature, Mysis, Advantx, HDS/Perse, Quadex, and ePremis. We also work with many medical record, imaging and archive systems.

Q.WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF USING A PRE-COLLECTION PROGRAM?

Pre-collection programs offer two key benefits. A well-designed program can reduce your bad debt
expense by increasing collections prior to transfer to bad debt, thus reducing collection agency
fees. It is also a very good tool for identifying registration and insurance eligibility errors. Auditing
these accounts prior to collection can minimize customer service issues in the future. MRSI’s Re-bill
Classification reports allow you to identify problem registration areas and institute process improvement
methods to reduce future errors.

Q.I’M CONVERTING TO A NEW PATIENT ACCOUNTING SYSTEM. HOW CAN YOU ASSIST IN LIQUIDATING MY OLD RECEIVABLES?

MRSI will work with you to develop a comprehensive plan for outsourcing receivables at strategic points before, during and after your conversion. Round table discussions with key players will help identify all the activities required to make the transition as clean and timely as possible. By using our services throughout your conversion process, you can transfer receivables to us as your staff shifts their focus to your new system.

Q.WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE MEDICAL RECOVERY SYSTEMS?

MRSI has demonstrated its success in performing outsourcing services many times throughout our 21 year history. We focus on you, our client, and customize our services to meet your specific needs. While we use our own proven methodologies for billing, follow up and self pay account collection workflows, we combine these with your requirements and expectations to deliver an outcome that meets and often exceeds your goals.

Q.DOES MRSI PROVIDE REAL TIME REPORTING?

MRSI offers real time reporting so that you can see the status of your receivables at any time. A/R detail, graphing and aging reports are examples of the reports offered that can assist you in your A/R management. We can segregate your reports by populations, locations, projects or any other variables you require to track and analyze your receivables.

ELIGIBILITY SERVICES FOR GOVERMENT PROGRAMS

Q.HOW CAN I INCREASE MY MEDICAID DOLLARS AND DECREASE MY CHARITY DOLLARS?

Let the seasoned eligibility specialists at MRSI do the work for you. Let us help to increase your
Medicaid dollars and your patient’s compliance by helping to:
– Assist in collecting all necessary verifications
– Complete and file applications
– Perform home visits
– Attend face-to-face interviews
– Follow accounts to approval, including appeals and hearings, when necessary
And to help your bottom line…these services are at NO COST to you unless Medicaid pays!!

Q.WHAT SETS MRSI APART FROM OTHER VENDORS?

MRSI eligibility specialists have developed long-standing, positive relationships with the various tri-state county case workers and have specialized protocols for AEMA, pediatric and Medicare-no secondary patient accounts. Our staff perform these eligibility services both in the hospital setting and in the field and will assist the patient at the level needed while pursuing eligibility, including denial review and the completion of hearings, if necessary.

Q.CAN MRSI HELP AFTER MY OWN FINANCIAL COUNSELORS HAVE WORKED THE ACCOUNT?

MRSI specialists can also act as your “second look” vendor. We will review the account for proper screening/program determination or review the denials for appropriateness. We can provide the necessary support for those accounts that should be sent to a hearing, as well as those that need further follow up. MRSI makes our assessment timely so that your organization can be more prudent in allocating your charity dollars.

Q.DOES MRSI ASSIST THE PATIENT WITH SOCIAL SECURITY?

Yes, our eligibility specialists can complete the application for those patients who otherwise are unable, or who may simply need help in the process. We also have a specialized team who follow the social security application process to approval and work hand in hand with the specialists and your patients to ensure that each step of the process is understood.

Q.DOES MRSI PROVIDE REAL TIME REPORTING?

MRSI offers real time reporting so that you can see exactly where in the approval process the patient’s account resides. A/R detail, graphing and aging reports are examples of the reports offered that can assist you in your A/R management. We can segregate your reports by populations, locations, projects or any other variables you require to track and analyze your pending Medicaid dollars.

Q.DOES YOUR ELIGIBILITY DEPARTMENT WORK LOW DOLLAR ACCOUNTS?

In addition to working high dollar, complicated patient accounts, MRSI has a low dollar dialer screening program for self pay patients. This program tends to capture the patient who is a “return” visitor to your facility. Those low dollar accounts are put on a dialer and are efficiently screened for eligibility programs prior to the determination of utilizing charity dollars or turning the account over to a collection agency.
